The calendar shows no events when I click on the meeting link on the home page. I would like to find out the dates and locations of the meetings. Thanks

Spring Splits

Both my 2 deep hives are full. They did well this winter. I had been planning on splitting them but it seems too early with the cold weather and lack of drones. I put a new deep on top to make them think they have more room. When can I split considering the cool weather and possible snow like last M...

Re: Small Hive Beetle SHB

Thank you for your help. I have looked at hundreds of photos via google and am concerned by the clubbed antenna. I am going to search the entire hive tomorrow when I have help lifting. My searches also indicate that SHB can be carried in new packages which should make sense as that is what this hive...

Re: Small Hive Beetle SHB

I find about 10 at a time on the screened bottom board insert. They are good fliers so I drown them in water. They have clubbed antennae but these retract after they die and can't be seen. There have been about 100 in the last day.

Small Hive Beetle SHB

I am finding a lot of what look and act like small hive beetles in my hive. I just got the package on May 3 to replace winter losses. I have never seen SHB before and I thought they were not in Colorado. Could they have come in with the package bees? What are other people seeing? Any SHB traps that ...

Mosquito spraying and how to protect my hives

I am on the call list if there is to be spraying in my area. I was just informed that there will be spraying about 1/4 mile from me throughout Erie. I called Colorado mosquito control and was told that they will be ground spraying, and if they are lucky the special sized drops of pyrethrum based ins...

Yellow Jackets (YJ)

I am looking for suggestions. I have looked at a lot of pages online and was hoping for local advice. There are YJ robbing my hive usually early in the morning I see them carrying out larvae. They seem most active early in the day and late. When I inspect around noon a few show up and stick their he...

Re: Robbing and bee candy

Thanks, I will take the candy off and use it for syrup this summer. I found your recipe for bee candy online and will try it.

Robbing and bee candy

I have two deep hive bodies with a horizontal frame with mesh that holds my bee candy on top of the hive bodies and underneath the inner cover and telescoping cover. I have a reduced entrance. One the warm days I note that there are a lot of my bees bringing in pollen. No fighting is noted. Today I ...
