Looking for queen cells

Post by eerie bees » Thu Apr 10, 2014 9:21 am

Hi Folks,
I'm still relatively new to beekeeping on the front range and am wondering when I should start inspecting frames for queen cells to make up some splits?
The girls have been packing in pollen like crazy for the past few weeks.

On another note: this is a very busy time for apiaries, yet there are no meetings on the calendar. When's the next meting?

- Thanks

The ideal time for splits in this area is mid to late April depending on the weather. Swarm season gets going around the second week of May.

We'll post the details for our next meeting when they're available. The BCBA typically meets every other month except for our two consecutive business meetings in February and March. The next meeting is scheduled for May.
