Hello friends!
I am currently a passionate bee advocate and student at Naropa University. We are doing a semester long research paper and I automatically knew I wanted to write it over CCD and how the average person can help save the honeybees! I am knowledgeable but still quite the novice on this subject and would love to meet with/interview a beekeeper or anyone that think they would be helpful with this project! I plan on starting a personal blog and succeed at getting more of the word out simultaneously with writing this paper and all help/input would be appreciated!
I am also curious to if anyone has any suggestions for someone that wants to begin backyard beekeeping or a backyard bee garden but has no backyard? I know many of us in Boulder, especially college students, do not have access to our own outside area but would still love to take part in these activities. I know there are many community gardens, but I can't seem to find out if any allow beekeeping? Ideas?
My name is Leah by the way : ) and I can't wait to hear back from you all
Thanks for reading and take care!

Re: Research Project
Hi, Leah!
Check out Tom Theobald's blog, Tom's Corner, for information about bee decline.
https://www.bouldercountybeekeepers.org/toms-corner/
You're also welcome to attend our March meeting which is a good place to meet beekeepers.

As far as getting started with bees goes, I wholeheartedly recommend BCBA's beekeeping class which is geared toward new and new-ish beekeepers seeking info about how to get started with bees in Boulder County. The next session is slated for October 2015. https://www.bouldercountybeekeepers.org/classes/
Check out the Classifieds area of this forum to see what's available in the category of landowners seeking beekeepers to keep bees on their property.

Re: Research Project
Thank you so much! I will definitely be attending the meeting (unless winter is still hitting hard) on March 4th! I would love to gather more thoughts and opinions, as well as facts. I also very much appreciate the links you provided, they are already proving to be very useful. Thanks again!
Best,
Leah
