I just bought a nice AMERICAN OPTICAL FIFTY 50 BINOCULAR LABORATORY MICROSCOPE - on eBay for $75 with free pickup in Denver. There are lots more like it from a medical business liquidation. Bidding starts at $75. It will do 400x, which is what you need to see Nosema spores. The oculars are WF10x, the objectives are 4x, 10x, 45x, 100x (oil) and it comes with its own light.
