Here are the two pieces of media that inspired me to pick up Silent Spring right now.
A Sense of Wonder – a Rachel Carson biopic based on a one-woman play of the same name. The film is set during the period when Carson was writing and speaking about Silent Spring while also coping with cancer. Highly recommended for anyone seeking more info about the personal context from which the book arose. (Thank you, Amy.) http://www.asenseofwonderfilm.com/
"Rachel Carson's Silent Spring Turns 50," – is one of several good magazine articles that recap the book for a new audience. http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archi ... 50/258926/
Also, here's Rachel Carson's obit. in the New York Times.
