Local suppliers for nucs/packages?

Post by jdaun1 » Fri Mar 24, 2017 3:22 pm

I'm new to the Boulder area, and late to the game this year. Planning to start 2-3 hives this spring. I have locations but need bees.

Looking for a list of reputable local suppliers for nucs and packages.

I understand that many suppliers may be sold out by now, so far I've found Dakota Bees in Wheat Ridge, other suggestions appreciated :D

Thanks!
Jesse

Hi Jesse,
Go to the Colorado State Beekeepers Ass'n webpage http://coloradobeekeepers.org/bees-for-sale.html for what's available this spring. You're best bet in our climate is to start with a nuc, and I think To Bee or not to Bee in Littleton has a few left. Make sure you find a good beekeeping class (full day or more) and/or a mentor to get you through your first couple of years. (Full disclosure, I offer both.) Best of luck to you and don't hesitate to ask questions here or on the list serve.
Cheers,
