To feed or not to feed a new swarm

Post by backcountrygg » Sun Jun 02, 2013 10:17 am

So this a topic that I hear so many different opinions on. I just got my first swarm hived on May 31st. It was a large swarm. At this time of year, what are your thoughts about feeding? Around my house flowers are up, but lilacs haven't bloomed yet in my yard; so I feel the nectar isn't up to speed quite yet.

What is everyone experiencing with their bees? Should my swarm be on their own? I'm trying to follow the ways of bee guardianship, and my bees are a wild, native swarm.

I'm sorry I'm just seeing your question now as it's an important one. Did you end up feeding your bees?
