How tight does a topbar divider need to fit?

I'm a newbee (HAHAHA) and I'm building a topbar hive. I put together a divider, and put a fabric edge strip around it so it would fit up against the side of the hive regardless of where I moved it to in the hive. (see the attached picture) I'm not sure how tight it needs to fit. I touches the side and bottom of the hive, but it isn't real snug. My question is this: does it need to be pretty snug?
