Wasp invasion

Earlier in the fall of this year (when the weather was nice) one of my hives, which was already weak to enter into the cold months, sub combed to an invasion of wasps. Now that we have had a hard freeze I suspected that the wasps are no longer alive. My question is, other than cleaning out the dead wasps and any queen nests that they built, is there anything else I should do to the hive or the frames in it to prevent wasps coming back next spring and try to set up house keeping in that hive.

Hi, Robin.

I'm assuming you're going to try again with new bees this spring.

A strong colony should be able to fend off wasps just fine with the help of an entrance reducer. You'll want to use the entrance reducer in the late summer/fall which is when, as you've seen, wasps tend to go on the attack.
